Course PresenterMariana van der Walt has almost two decades of experience in supporting Organizational Decision Makers in Transactional, Operational, Tactical and Strategic Decision Making.

We cover the following subjects in this course

At Van Thinking we  give attention to two of the the three important aspects of good decision making, namely 1)  decision making, 2) decision support, and 3)  the decision maker.  This particular course focuses on providing an overview of Decision Making in Organizations, looking only at decision makers and decision making.

Decision Making:  If you are interested in enhancing your decision skills, you need to understand the basic dynamics of decision making.  In this course we give a broad overview of some main themes, namely:

  1. The Five Important Issues when Studying Decision Making*  (We need to be aware of the different approaches and viewpoints regarding Decision Making to extract value from literature for practical Decision Making)
  2. Invisible influences on our Decision Making (We give attention to Expectations, Sense Making and the use and impact of Images amd Metaphors)
  3. Decision Making, Authority Styles and Decision Making Risks (We give attention to Authority Styles, Decision Risk Estimation*, Decision Risk Propensity* and the Impact of Organizational Realities on Decision Risks)
  4. How Decisions Happen (In this course we give attention mostly to rational decision making)
  5. Understanding Organizational Decision Making (covered in accompanying ebook).

Aim of the course

  3. After you have received the last session's link to the material you have continued access to the discussion forum (for up to a month after you first enrolled)
